Behind the Design: “Trust GOD” (When You Don’t Have the Full Plan)

“Trust GOD” is simple on purpose.

Because when life gets complicated, you don’t need a complicated message.

The inspiration

This design was born out of a challenge to go through the book of Proverbs, one chapter a day, for a year, by reading the chapter that corresponds to the day of the month. Each month that a chapter was read again a new truth was revealed. This continued month after month until a mantra was formed. When you look at the design, this mantra is identified by the red letters. Trust GOD, Don't doubt, HE is the Truth, Be obedient. When life gets difficult, and you just don't know what to do, Trust GOD. When life tries to test your faith, Don't doubt. When life continues warring against you trying to bring about fear, remember that HE is the Truth. And then when the path that you're walking gets difficult, Be obedient. Then if you continue to observe the text, the many titles, and names of Christ Jesus, and GOD can be found.

On the back of the shirt there is quite a bit going on, beginning with the question, "What Are You Searching For" arranged in a way similar to words in a word search puzzle. Then there are several lines from the book of Isaiah Ch 5, vs 1. They read as, “I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me; I was found by those who did not seek me. To a nation that did not call on my name, I said, ‘Here am I, here am I.’" This text was used to not only mirror what an observer does when viewing the front of the shirt, but also to answer the question of what are you searching for. This scripture shares with us that God’s proactive love and grace, reaches out to all humanity, not just those who seek Him, and emphasizes that salvation is initiated by God. Encouraging the believer to recognize GOD's initiative in their lives, and to extend HIS gracious love to others.

As a way to exemplify the words "Here am I, here am I", there is a subtle change in the font color on the front word search that matches the one used in those words. This brings to life another part of the verse that states "I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me; I was found by those who did not seek me". By making that subtle change so that it stands out you suddenly see all of the words in the search without any effort. One final title for GOD is hidden in the search and not made as obvious, but it is easy to find. When you see it, hopefully it puts a warm smile on your face.

Trust isn’t passive.
